A zebra rug is quite popular with many people. These people like the touch of the wild outdoors that the rug brings into their homes. However did you know that there are three different types of these rugs for sale? So in order to clean your rug in the right way, you should know what type of rug it is. Only then can you clean it properly without the risk of ruining your rug.

The first and most expensive zebra rug is the one made from real zebra skin. You can keep it looking its best with regular vacuuming. Vacuuming and shaking the rug once a week will get rid of any dust or dirt that is on your rug. Treat spots and stains immediately. For this, you can use mild foam upholstery cleaner and a soft washcloth. Remember not to scrub as this can ruin your rug. Now you can air dry the rug in a shaded area away from direct sunlight.

The second type of zebra rug is the one made from other animal skin and hide. These rugs also could do well with a regular weekly vacuuming. For treating any stains and spots, you can use mild soap and water. You can also try steam cleaning your rug, but remember that you should never get the backing of the rug wet as this can ruin your rug.

The third type of zebra rug is the one made from other materials like wool, nylon, polypropylene or acrylic. These rugs are made from natural or synthetic fibers, and they would also benefit from a weekly vacuuming. Remove any spots or stains immediately with mild soap and water. You may even think about getting your rugs cleaned professionally every two years.

Once you know the right type of zebra rug that you own, you can clean it in the right way. This will ensure that your rug retains its beauty for a long time.
